Issue 31 of D365 Marketing Weekly

Well, it’s official, nearly 1/2 of you think the newsletter name should stay! The rest were all divided, so for now, it will remain as the D365 Marketing Weekly Newsletter. Thanks to those who voted, it was a great help!

Even though it actually came out in November, the release notes information for October has been added to the Microsoft website. Make sure you check them out to see what has been included. There is a lot of stuff around Copilot, but one cool thing we have been waiting for is quiet times for Realtime Marketing Journeys!

Using Browser Session Storage To Add Referrer and UTM Parameters To Leads

I’ve written about getting UTM Parameters from the URL when someone visits your website, then using them to add to hidden fields on a form and passing them through to a Lead record in D365. This is a great way to figure out where your Leads are coming from. However, thanks to Ferdinand Ganter, a reader of my blog, I had to rethink things. What about someone that comes to your site with a link that has UTM parameters but then navigates away from that page? The UTM parameters are then stripped away and you are left with nothing. What about times where you want to share a link to a page that doesn’t have a form, but that visitor ends up on one? Wouldn’t you still like to get that information back in to D365? Then read on, this blog is for you!

Generating leads or opportunities from within journeys

I found an article on using the steps to generate Leads or Opportunities from a Journey in Realtime Marketing from Marco and thought it was good to share! It’s a great business case too, finding Contacts with an expiring Contract where an email goes out then an Opportunity is created assigned to the owner of the Contact. Nice work!

Understanding Realtime Marketing Form Themes And CSS

Brand consistency is important, and getting your Realtime Marketing Forms to look good and fit in with your website look and feel is key for a seamless experience. The forms have a fantastic theme panel providing you with the ability to set the colour palette, background, h1, h2, h3, paragraph and other components on your form. Although that is all there on a form by default, you might have a need to adjust the CSS… potentially removing stuff without realising it. In this post I will walk through the components that exist in the theme area and which CSS determines what shows up for a user to edit.

This event in coming up in Germany and will be here in about 10 days! It will be a hybrid event with part streaming online, but also presentations in Hamburg! Exciting to see a session from Pauline Kolde who will be covering Event Management in Customer Insights Journeys. Looks like a great event!

Leaving this one here…. because it’s the only event I will be presenting at this year so deserves another week in the newsletter. 😂This is in the evening on Thursday November 23rd in Birmingham, UK. I will delve in to Realtime Marketing in Customer Insights - Journeys (formerly D365 Marketing). With recent announcements from Microsoft, Realtime is the way to go, and Outbound is no longer even an option for newer customers! Is your organisation ready to make the move? Although you have time, the amount of work and effort will vary depending on the size of a company and the amount of assets and journeys currently being used. I will walk through the specific areas to be aware of and aim to provide a less daunting journey for you (no pun intended)! Would love to see you there!
