Issue 50 of D365 Marketing Weekly

Hi lovely reader,

This week, I am sharing something of a more personal nature. I’m currently preparing for another walking challenge, this time tackling the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in the UK. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a demanding but rewarding trek that conquers three of Yorkshire's highest peaks: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough.

I’m waking with a group of friends (organised by Katy Strudwick) to help raise money for a local hospice helping those in need of end-of-life care. Any donations are welcome to help raise money for an amazing charity: Katy Strudwick is fundraising for Ashgate Hospice (justgiving.com)

As always, if you spot anything you think would be worth a mention, just let me know by emailing [email protected]. Always good to know of others posting about D365 Marketing or if you see anything else other marketers should know about.

Now let’s get on with the newsletter!

D365 Marketing

The following relate to news and articles about Dynamics 365 Marketing

Active journeys that were created on or before May 5, 2022 will stop working on July 1, 2024

MICROSOFT

When reviewing the release notes for March, I noticed a message about active Journeys that will stop working on July 1st 2024. This is for Journeys that were created on or before May 5th, 2022. Kind of important news if you have ongoing Journeys that fall in to this criteria! So makes sure you check this one out to understand what do do to make sure your Journeys are not disrupted.

Removing Issues With Mobile Phone Numbers On Realtime Forms

MEGAN V. WALKER

There can be challenges when capturing a mobile phone number from a Realtime Marketing form in Customer Insights – Journeys (D365 Marketing). Some of these issues you might not even be aware of. Jake Chen detailed the problems in a recent blog post walking through what happens when turning off the built in validation on the mobile phone field, which can then prevent Contact Point Consent records being created or updated. In this post I will look at what happens even when you keep that validation on, what it looks like for the person filling out the form, and what happens when a Contact Point Consent record for a mobile phone number is created. All things to be aware of and then decide the approach that is right for you!

Tip – Setting Default Time Zone for Real-time Journeys in Customer Insights- Journeys

SIDDHESH CHAVAN

A nice little tip or reminder for some from Siddhesh. This is about how to set the default timezone for Real-time Journeys in Customer Insights - Journeys. It’s a setting for Real-time only customers rather than those that have had Outbound too, so you won’t find Journey Settings there.

Copilot and campaign management – The Future with Microsoft and Typeface

PAULINE KOLDE

This post looks at the partnership with Microsoft and Typeface and how Copilot for full campaign creation is coming (soon!). As that’s not available yet, Pauline looked at Typeface’s features and shares a demo of her findings.

AMEY HOLDEN

Another awesome post from Amey. I did NOT know about this one, never paid much attention, but I am glad Amey did! She shows how you can add columns to the member grid view of a segment. All you wanted to know and more!

No More Dynamics 365 For Phones & Tablets From April 2024

MEGAN V. WALKER

There is SO much information in the Power Platform it’s hard to keep up with everything. Sometimes Microsoft makes announcements that we miss, and just happen to find later. This is one of those things, and I figure if it passed me by, it’s likely the same for others. So sharing just in case you aren’t already aware, the Dynamics 365 for Phones & Tablets is deprecated as of April 2024, or March 31st to be precise. Instead, users will need to use the Power Apps mobile app. This quick post will give you a little more detail and show you what your users will see currently. Good to know so you can share with your clients and/or colleagues so everyone is aware. So if you or your clients are using this to access the Marketing App, definitely one to share!

Events

If there are any upcoming events relating to Marketing, they will go here!

ColorCloud’s Fundraising Event - ColorChallenge

COLORCLOUD

Sharing again in the hopes it can raise a bit more money as it’s this coming weekend! This one isn’t specifically about an Event, but about a fundraising effort from those that are putting on ColorCoud in Hamburg on April 19th. ColorCloud are raising up to €10,000 in total. There are 10 MVP’s and Microsoft people who have committed to either dying their hair, or getting a tattoo IF enough money is raised! For each €1,000 raised, the next person on their list will be committed… so help make sure they all have their own splash of colour for the event! It’s a great initiative, with some fantastic causes being supported.
